Recommended Posts. Bhood70 Posted April 15, Posted April 15, I am trying to change the style of my text, maybe wrap it around to give it a curve affect?

I just asked since it could have been already announced and I missed it. Where does it say that? That definitely needs to be changed soon. GarryP , that’s the point :. I made my researches and since my main language isn’t English, probably I made a misleading interpretation from that quote. If you are using a vector drawing software that makes a claim like, I assumed wrongly I know , that would do it.

That being said, I also know that “almost any object” is different than “any object”, but they didn’t specify what couldn’t be done. If you think the other way and documentation states what could be converted to curves shapes designed with shape tool and text , that’s not “almost any object” but more in my personal opinion “barely any object”.

Again, it’s not an excuse. The error was mine since I could ask or even try before purchase. That would be a very long list! Well, it does say ” almost any object,” so it does indicate there are exceptions, just not what they are. Affinity Photo 1. I share the same frustration about not being able to trace an image. I’ve been using Serif software for over a decade.

You could trace any image into a black and white trace, a logo-like trace with limited colour pallette and a photo-like trace. After the image was traced, you could change the shape of each individual vector object using the node tool. I’ve used, and loved, ALL of Serif’s software but I can’t, for the life of me, work out why they won’t add a trace tool to Affinity Designer, especially when they had it in their older programs. Soooooo many people have asked for a trace feature.

Pleeeeeease Affinity, please add this feature! Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, Aria. Therein lies the problem! Lots of tiny vector objects, or fewer individual objects with lots of nodes in each, can make the vector version very difficult to work with.

I can’t, for the life of me, work out why they won’t add a trace tool to Affinity Designer, especially when they had it in their older programs. I get why so many people want a tracing function, I’d like it myself. What I don’t get is why they don’t seem to care how well it works, as long as it is there! I don’t think it’s the case that Serif “won’t” add a tracing tool; more the case that they don’t want to do so until they can make it work really well.

Also, of course, the Affinity apps are completely new, so what was in their legacy software is really irrelevant. Acer XC : Core i Hexa-core 2. Further of course it also always highly depends on the initial bitmap image quality the algorithms have to work on, meaning here, bad absolutely unprepared images will also often lead to bad vector representations then.

Smoothing lines and prevent rasterization, ideally also offering center-line tracing Well there are still certain similarities in partly reused UI-design and some other code functionality and used libs, so not all is always completely new here.

There are several parts where they didn’t reinvented the wheel! This just makes it even more inexplicable to me that Serif won’t add this feature. It’s available even in a range of open-source tools and it’s a basic feature of Illustrator which is where most of the userbase will be migrating from. It’s an expected feature and should be added. Given the price point of Affinity I’d be ok even with it being a third-party plugin as long as it could be launched directly in Affinity. You can post now and register later.

This can be adjusted by changing the value of the Baseline input in the toolbar above the artboard.

Whenever you place text along the inside of a path, you may notice that the reduction in space results in a reduction of space between the letters as well.

Fortunately, this can be easily fixed. To adjust the spacing between the letters of your text, triple-click the text to select all of it, then hold Alt on your keyboard and use the left and right arrow keys to increase and decrease the spacing between the letters.

The left arrow reduces spacing between the letters, whereas the right arrow increases the spacing:.
