Ken Rename – Download – Question Info

Ask a new question. In Windows 10 all the items in Quick Access renamed themselves to the original name of the actual folders they point to rather than the names I gave them. For example, I have a number of clients, and each of them has old revisions, and the Current version of the work. I pin the Currents, and rename them Bill, Joe, etc. Взято отсюда I just have a whole row of Current, Current, Current Thank you so much for this ” Favorites ” folder idea.

Microsoft’s choice to not allow the renaming of Quick Access choices страница been my number one frustration with Windows I will remain frustrated with their ongoing choice to not modify their code to allow such but your work around is invaluable. Maybe all the old Vista and ME engineers were assigned to the Windows 10 File Explorer team :- That could explain http://replace.me/14862.txt old style MS stonewalling of not even acknowledging that any problem exists.

With a full path the path itself prevides context. With a shoutcut the path is hidden and the name itself should be able to provide context. Whoever made this decision must’ve been on the same team that thought Vista was a good idea.

We just upgraded to Win10 at work and I’ve lost a lot of time and sanity trying to figure out which folder in my Quick Access area corresponds to what I’m looking for, since as another user pointed out, sometimes different sub-folders have the same name such as if you’re working with sub-folders under different fiscal years, users, projects, etc.

I cannot believe MS hasn’t addressed this yet. Come ON, Microsoft; this is rookie mistake – and you are no spring chicken! If you’ve tried like me to add a network location to a Library – denied due to it not being indexed and ridiculously, the link presented in the dialog box, “How can this folder be indexed? Forget it, I’m pretty sure MS don’t want you to use “Libraries” anymore Just use the System Folders, and network shares.

Feel free to rename the shortcuts you create here so that they are sorted to your liking! It infuriates me that the Navigation Pane is not able to be custom sorted, but windows 10 quick access rename items free download is yet another UX issue.

I did something generally similar, but tidier. I have a large number of network locations I need to keep handy. So, I created a folder named “Network Shares” somewhere in a logical location in my user profile and then pinned it to Quick Access, where I keep a few other commonly accessed local folders pinned. In the “Network Shares” folder I simply created shortcuts to my various network locations.

Shortcuts are renamable and everything is tidy and readily accessible. Ah yeah, I’d probly agree – if you have more than a handfull of things you would have put in the “Quick access” menu, it seems like the best option which others are suggesting now too is to create a ‘Shortcuts’ folder and either pin it, or place it on your Desktop. In reply to esbuzoianu’s post windows 10 quick access rename items free download November 1, Missed your solution. I did the same thing myself. Hello Microsoft, any thoughts? In reply to manniongeo’s post on August 10, An easy fix is to create a folder on your desktop names shortcuts. Place a new folder for each link you want and name it whatever you like. Place a shortcut inside this folder. Pin each folder to your quick access. When you click the link, there will only be one folder inside with a shortcut that gets you where you need to go.

Awful windows 10 quick access rename items free download but you don’t need to be a по этому адресу to do it and it only adds an extra click to get to your destination. At least for Network locations Click Next, and select “Choose a custom network location”, click Next. For me the Browse button on the right brings up some stupid dysfunctional window, so just type or paste in the address of the network folder you want the shortcut to open to sorry I’m not going to explain how to figure that out here – if you are unsure look elsewhere – click Next.

Create a name for the shortcut!! Read the fantastical box telling you that you have successfully created a network location and shortcut, Click Finish. Create a folder on your Desktop called ‘Links’ or ‘Shortcuts’ or whatever. Place shortcuts to places and files! Expand the ‘Desktop’ under ‘This PC’ to see windows 10 quick access rename items free download folder, and click on it to see your shortcuts in the main window.
