Texas Chainsaw Massacre succeeds in giving slasher film fans gruesome, gory, and insane kill scenes and wastes no time in doing so. The film truly lives up to its name, as there is a chainsaw and a massacre in Texas. For fans who are looking for a grisly and gory film, with each kill being more deranged than the last, this film will not disappoint.

When the trailer for Texas Chainsaw Massacre first hit, there was a buzz about the bus scene massacre being out of place, as characters are seen taking photos and live streaming Leatherface as he begins to tear through the crowd. After watching the film, the bus scene actually works well with the overall theme and is probably one of the best murder sequences in the film. Putting dimwitted characters making dumb decisions aside, which is appropriate for these sorts of slasher films, the biggest issue with Texas Chainsaw Massacre is with the storyline itself.

This folly seems to lie with whoever made the decision to cut the backstories of the characters and put out an minute film. Granted, this author was appreciative of the shortened runtime, as there is just so much killing one can take in a film. There were so many avenues that could have been explored after all this time, outside of existing sequels and reboots, that could have really catapulted this installment to new heights, and had it poised for a fresh new take for the future.

Instead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre only serves to remind viewers that the original was much better. Pin 2.

It had a horrible ending that kind of ruined the story, which wasn’t good to begin with. Also, there is more gore than I’d seen mentioned, like ripping off faces. A man holds a dead woman, cuts off her face we hear the cuts and see gore , raises the skin to the sunlight and places it over his own face as a woman in a van tries to radio for help; he breaks the glass, stabs her in the throat we see blood flow and hear her gasp , and in close-up in the stomach we see more blood flow and she dies with her eyes open.

A woman and a teen girl in a parked car put it on autopilot as a man wearing a skin mask breaks out a window and pulls the woman out; he uses a chainsaw to cut off her head blood and gore drip , the teen girl stands up and looks horrified as the man dances in the street while holding the severed head. A teen girl tells a man that she is a survivor of a high school shooting, and is afraid of guns; we see two flashbacks of a dozen teens lying dead in a darkened school hallway with blood on their faces as one girl gets up; in real time, we see that she has a partially healed scar above her collar bone.

We see bloody knives, hammers, meat hooks, chainsaw blades, and a dirty skull; also pencil drawings of a man wearing a mask made of sewn together pieces that we hear are human skin. The end credits include images of bloody meat hooks, axes, hammers, wrenches, and a bloody running chainsaw blade. A man spits to a place out of the frame and we hear the spitting but see no saliva. A man and a woman argue. A woman argues with a man and another woman, and the couple has her removed from her home.
